Romani settlement “Krojcica 1” is within the local community Kreka, with four Romani settlements: Krojcica 1, Krojcica 2, Krojcica 3 and Miladije.
The Krojcica 1 settlement is located in the southern part of the city, some 2 km away from the centre of Tuzla.
Available data shows that the Romani community in this settlement has around 140 people. Surveying was carried out with 39 inhabitants who make 12 households and who are currently present in the settlement, are not outside of the country and do not refuse declaring as Romani.
Two persons are employed full time, and two are retired.
Four families live on collecting secondary raw materials, one family lives on social welfare and one funds their living by selling second hand goods at the market.
There are 16 children in this community, of which 11 go to school.
All of the families in this settlement are accommodated and have own houses.
According to Husein Biberovic, our contact person, the problems residents of this settlement are faced with, in addition to the problems faced by all Romani people, like unemployment and health protection, are mostly related to infrastructure: unfinished roads and sewerage.
