Romani settlement “Crvene Njive” is located in the area of the local community Mosnik.  

It is located in the southern part of the city, some 2.5 km away from the centre of Tuzla.

There are close to 250 residents living in this Romani community.

Contacts and surveying was carried out with 66 inhabitants who make 16 households and who are currently present in the settlement, are not outside of the country and do not refuse declaring as Romani.

Among the adults, only one person has a full time job, while one is retired. 

Nine families live of collecting secondary raw materials, one family lives of selling second hand goods at the market, and one lives of physical labour.   

There are 34 children in this Romani community, of which 16 go to school.

One Romani family lives as subtenants, and 15 families have their own houses.

According to the community’s representative, Husein Biberovic, the problems this community faces are related to infrastructure:  unfinished and poor road communication and poor sewerage systems, regardless of the closeness to the centre of Tuzla. 

Other noted problems are those faced by all Romani people:  unemployment and inadequate health protection.
