Romani settlement “Boric” is a part of the local community Centre, situated in the northern part of the city, close to the University Clinical Centre Tuzla. It is 1 km from the city centre. It is estimated that the Romani community in this settlement has about 80 residents. Surveying was carried out with 32 inhabitants who make eight households and who are currently present in the settlement, are not outside of the country and do not refuse declaring as Romani.
Three persons in this settlement are employed on full time, four families live of collecting secondary raw materials, and one family lives of selling second hand goods at the market. There are 16 children in this community, of which 12 go to school.
All the Romani people living in the Boric Romani settlement have their own houses and live there.
According to Sejfo Alimanovic, our contact person from this settlement, the problems residents here are faced with, in addition to the problems of all Romani people, like unemployment and health protection, are mostly related to infrastructure, i.e. local roads, which are in very poor condition and require urgent attention.
In addition, a large problem of the Boric settlement is land sliding, due to which a number of people were force to evacuate their homes.
A more significant attention of the local community is expected in order to permanently solve this problem.
